Land Surveying
There are over 300 Registered Land Surveyors in Lagos. A Registered Land Surveyor is a Surveyor licensed by SURCON (Surveyors Council of Nigeria) to carry out survey works anywhere within the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
It’s important to note that it’s not everyone that is called a Surveyor who is actually a Registered Surveyor.
It’s also important to note that ONLY REGISTERED SURVEYORS are qualified to carry out property surveys used to obtain title documents from the government. Therefore, when you begin your search for one, please make sure you insist on engaging a Registered Surveyor.
It is always best to consult a surveyor BEFORE you even buy the land NOT after because one of the duties of a surveyor is to help you avoid buying land in areas that fall under government acquisition.
Lands that are under government acquisition are not for sale to the public because they are reserved for developmental purposes by the government.
If you don’t know any Land Surveyor in Lagos, ask any friend you have in the construction and real estate industry. Land Surveyors work with other professionals in these industries such as engineers, architects, builders, town planners, lawyers etc.
